Pheasants at Firwood
I didn't realize the number of birds that can be seen by just standing in one spot. The difficulty I have is in photographing them - I just have a digital camera, good but not really good enough to take zoom pictures. Usually the birds are just that little distance away and they come out as a speck on the photograph.
It is nice therefore, when you get a very understanding bird. See Humphrey Pheasant. He is a local of ours at Firwood http://www.firwoodhouse.co.uk he is at least 3 years old and comes shouting for his morning toast. This must be the biggest bird on the bird table. I have snapped him snoozing on this one - I think he is a-courting, comes running for his food, sleeps, disappears again for a day or two and looks at times, quite disheveled. At least he is quite in the mornings at the moment!
